Robert J. Lapham Outstanding Service Award

This award for outstanding service is presented each year to a Maine physician assistant in recognition of outstanding service to the PA profession and to the Downeast Association of Physician Assistants.

Nominations are made to the Chair of the Awards Committee by submitting a letter to the committee at the DEAPA address or Emailed to kmiller@deapa.com. The letter should describe why the nominee deserves the award, including information about activities which qualify them for the award, their education/training, current employment, other attributes, and personal information about family and hobbies, etc. The Committee presents the nominees to the Board of Directors for final selection. The award is presented at DEAPA's annual meeting.

Outstanding Health Care Professional Award

This award is presented to a health care professional who has demonstrated exceptional clinical knowledge and teaching skills, promoting the PA profession and contributing to the health of Maine.

Nominations are made to the Chair of the Awards Committee by submitting a letter to the committee at the DEAPA address or Emailed to kmiller@deapa.com. The letter should describe why the nominee deserves the award, including information about their education/training, current employment, other attributes, and personal information about family and hobbies, etc. The Committee presents the nominees to the Board of Directors for final selection. The award is presented at DEAPA's annual meeting.

Outstanding Rural Physician Assistant Award

This award is presented each year to a Maine physician assistant in recognition of dedicated service to a rural community, both as a health care provider and as a citizen.

Nominations are made to the Chair of the Awards Committee by submitting a letter to the committee at the DEAPA address or Emailed to kmiller@deapa.com. The letter should describe why the nominee deserves the award, including information about their style of practice and community activities which qualify them for the award, their education/training, current employment, other attributes, and personal information about family and hobbies, etc. The Committee presents the nominees to the Board of Directors for final selection. The award is presented at DEAPA's annual meeting.

Physician of the Year Award

This award is presented to a Maine physician who has demonstrated outstanding support of physician assistants and the PA profession by precepting, educating, and legislating; or by exemplifying the PA/physician team approach to medicine.

Nominations are made to the Chair of the Awards Committee by submitting a letter to the committee at the DEAPA address or Emailed to kmiller@deapa.com. The letter should describe why the nominee deserves the award, including information about their education/training, current employment, other attributes, and personal information about family and hobbies, etc. The Committee presents the nominees to the Board of Directors for final selection. The award is presented at DEAPA's annual meeting.

Susan Vincent Memorial Scholarship

Each year, DEAPA awards a $1,000 scholarship in memory of fellow PA Susan Vincent. The student recipient of this scholarship must be a Maine resident at the time of acceptance into a PA Program, submit a letter of acceptance from a program for physician assistants, and submit a brief statement detailing why s/he deserves and needs this scholarship. The deadline for submitting this information each year is June 1st and should be sent to the DEAPA address or Emailed to kmiller@deapa.com
