Q: How do I get licensed as a Physician Assistant in the State of Maine?
A: There are two licensing boards for PA's in the State of Maine. The Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine and the Maine Board of Osteopathic Licensure. Licensing as a Physician Assistant in the State of Maine is dependant on the designation of your Primary Supervising Physician. PA's are licensed under the same board as their supervising physician. If your supervising physician is an Allopathic Provider (MD), then your license will be granted through the Maine Board of Licensure in Medicine www.docboard.org/me/me_home.htm. If your primary supervising physician is an Osteopathic Physician (DO), you will be licensed through the Maine Board of Osteopathic Licensure www.docboard.org/me-osteo. You may contact the appropriate board for further directions.
